Biography

Benjamin Wilson, PhD, is a comparative behavioral neuroscientist who joined the Emory National Primate Research Center and the Emory University Psychology Department in 2020. Dr. Wilson's research focuses on cutting-edge comparative behavioral studies in several primate species and is complemented with neuroimaging work. He directly compares cognitive functions, principally those relevant for human language, that could inspire language disorders in patients and children.

Dr. Wilson received his BSc in Psychology from the University of York, UK, in 2005, before completing an MSc in Evolutionary Psychology from the University of Liverpool, UK, in 2008. He received his PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Newcastle, UK, in 2014. During his studies, he used behavioral and neuroimaging approaches to directly compare artificial grammar learning in humans and macaque and marmoset monkeys. After a short postdoctoral position, he was awarded a Sir Henry Wellcome Research Fellowship to study the cognitive and neural systems supporting language-relevant processes in humans and monkeys.
